Village Cinemas Athens, Greece

Village Cinemas is a neighbourhood favourite in Athens, Greece. This project saw the total redesign of the interior. The concept was to create an immersive movie-going experience from the moment people entered into the lobby.

Lighting was central to developing this escapist environment. Large trapeze lights were embedded at frequent intervals across the ceiling, with smaller, free-formed shapes also running down the sides of the walls. The lights also change colour to add to the playful energy of the area.

The lobby expands into a seating area and custom bar. A central sofa curves continuously throughout the space, mirrored by stools and smaller seating clusters. In addition to a communal seating space, a games space was also introduced, partitioned from the rest of the space through a statement panel feature. Low-hanging lights deepen the play space, while mosaic-covered columns throughout emphasise the effervescent energy of the interior.
