Asset X True design Factory Visit in Italy

We were invited by Asset Interiors, along with a small group of architecture studios, to visit the True Design headquarters. It was a hands-on glimpse into the company’s philosophy and the making of their furniture—from concept to production.

At the wood workshop, we walked through lines of advanced machinery while watching skilled craftspeople refine each piece by hand. That balance—technology and human touch—was evident at every stage.

We stayed in Abano Terme, near Padova, where the town’s hot springs and mud baths are central to local life. With waters around 80 °C (176 °F), the thermal baths lived up to their reputation, and we made time to experience them.

True Design’s team—and its owners—were generous hosts. Their hospitality framed the whole trip.

On our final day we visited Venice, with a special tour of the private house of Valeriano Pastor, the renowned architect and student of Carlo Scarpa. It was a quiet, compelling lesson in material, light, and restraint.

Thank you to Asset Interiors and True Design for organizing a visit that was as thoughtful as it was inspiring.
