Architecture & Tourism — Humans & Algorithms (Chania, Crete)

Last weekend, Lukas Bobotis spoke at the forum “Architecture & Tourism — Humans & Algorithms” in Chania, Crete, hosted at the Centre for Mediterranean Architecture (C.A.M.) in the Grand Arsenal. The setting—where maritime heritage meets contemporary discourse—framed a weekend of idea-sharing, meaningful connections, and standout Cretan hospitality.

Discussions ranged from architecture, music, events, and local traditions to the role of AI and algorithms in shaping experience. A clear thread ran through each panel: the human as the connective force, and the importance of equilibrium and collaboration between sensory, lived experience and technological intelligence. The consensus was that synergies—not silos—create outcomes with depth and longevity.

Thank you to The Design Ambassador and the whole team behind it, to Danai Makri and Andreas Theodoridis for curating and organizing the event, and to the C.A.M. team for hosting.

Lukas also extends thanks to his co-panelists—the Mayor of Platanias, Mr. John (Ioannis) Malandrakis, George Tsolakis (architect)—and to Andreas Theodoridis, who moderated with sharp, generous questions that sparked lively on-stage conversations.

Leaving Chania, Lukas’ takeaway was clear: the future of design isn’t a contest between humans and machines, but a partnership that amplifies the best of both.
