ACO x Bobotis+Bobotis Architects – visit in Hamburg

We were invited by ACO Greece to spend 26–28 June 2025 between Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein: work sessions at the ACO Academy, a visit to NordArt, and time with the ACO team.

ACO’s home base sits in Rendsburg/Büdelsdorf, on the historic Carlshütte site—roots that still shape the company’s engineering culture. Their mission, “ACO. we care for water,” comes to life in the ACO WaterCycle: collect, channel, purify, store, and ultimately reuse water—an end-to-end view of a vital resource.

At NordArt, the scale is immediate: vast foundry halls (about 22,000 m²) open onto an 80,000 m² sculpture park—industrial archaeology turned cultural landscape. ACO’s hospitality threaded the experience together—art, engineering, and conversation in equal measure.

Back in Hamburg we stayed at a playful nod to the port with travel-themed rooms and a lively ground floor—Elbphilharmonie just a stroll away in the same quarter.

Three days of seeing, learning, and generous hosting—thank you, ACO, for having us.
